SINCERITY - THOUGHTFULNESS- JOY
ask me anything
Family photos are stressful. But, with me by your side, or more specifically behind the camera, I will do my best to make it a splendid experience for you and your loved ones. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you might have along the way. Here are some thoughts that might help.

before your session
all in the details
As we collaborate on details about your session I will send you two links. The first is to a questionnaire and contract. This helps me learn unique details about your family and creates quick connections. It also covers my business policies and practices so we are all on the same page. Then as the session date gets closer I will reach out to confirm the meeting time and location so we are ready for go time!
what not to wear
Why yes I stole that slogan from my all-time favorite TV show, Stacy and Clinton are my idols! Often picking outfits can be the most stressful part of the process. But I have a few tips and tricks up my sleeve to help you along the way! To start, coordinate colors and add lots of patterns and textures for variety. Begin with one outfit and build from there. As you are narrowing down options, lay them on the floor and snap a picture! It helps you easily compare and eliminate what doesn't go with the rest. Change your kids into their outfits when you arrive at the location. When in doubt, it's better to go for a more formal vibe over casual. Please avoid neon colors, large logos, baseball hats, and anything too matchy-matchy!
its go time
Try to keep the day of your session as low-key as possible. Avoid scheduling your kid's vaccinations, birthday parties, and other obligations that day. Aim to arrive at the session with your kids (and yourself) with full tummies and well-rested. Once you are at the location take a minute to empty your pockets. Take out your cellphone, car keys, and chapstick. Also, remove any hair elastics on your wrists.
during your session
my kid is crying
Chances are likely that at some point your toddler will cry and it is no big deal. Honestly. After all the years I have been doing this, I can think of one, maybe two sessions where we ended early because of a child's temperament. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help distract and move past any meltdowns. I also lean into it and just have them snuggle up to mom or dad and capture those tender moments.
want some candy
It’s time to pull out all the bribes! I bring smarties to the shoot as a reward. Smile- here's a candy, hands in your pockets- here's a candy, stay by me- here's a candy. It works! If you want to bring some snacks of your own things like fruit snacks, marshmallows, or goldfish crackers are great options. Avoid chocolate, suckers, basically anything that will stain kids' teeth or clothes. Also, the promise of a family outing for ice cream after the session works wonders too.
happy go lucky
I want mom and dad to show up to our session being the hype man. Positive, happy, in love, and cheering everyone on. My job is to manage kids. I have lots of games and activities that we will play during your session to help create the loving, connected family photos you see all over my website and social media.
after your session
special delivery
You will receive an email to your online gallery approximately three weeks after your session. That gallery will be available for a limited amount of time during which you can download, print, and share your photographs to your heart's content.
you are the art
Capturing families and the season of life they are in brings me SO much joy. If you could only see the huge smile that is plastered on my face as I cull and edit your images. Sure we might be softer around the edges, finding a couple more gray hairs, or feeling stiffer joints more frequently. But, the photographs will be bursting with genuine and cheerful emotions and that is what I want you to feel as you look back at these photographs over the years.
print and share
One of the greatest pieces of advice I have ever received was “Don’t let your jpegs grow up to be jpegs.” Having those family memories sit on hard drives isn’t doing your family any favors. Hang those photos on your walls, create photo books to place on your coffee table, and send out seasonal cards to those you love. As you start to share and display those memories they will bring light and life into your home.
